Ours sons Fish and Teddy have graduated. Their reactions are so different from one another. Fortunately for Teddy, Fish is very social. So their grad party was well attended by other high school kids. Makes me worry for Taz in a couple of years as he has no real friends, but there is still time for him to work that out. I took a lot of photos at graduation and also made a video of them getting their diploma. Fish's reaction was "those are neat mom. Thanks". Teddy, my child with RAD said "The video is fuzzy." and had no reaction to the photos. Now the rooky me would have been hurt that on his big day he still rejected me. I would never be good enough. But the experienced mom said "Yup. He has to keep his distance." I'm sure he liked them. He just can't say. Our kids love us as best they can. They really do.

Rejection
Rejection is an ugly word. Our children feel rejected. They were in some forms rejected in early life. Now they are often rejected by peers, neighbors or even some family members because of behaviors. But what about moms?
We have to look at the rejection of moms accurately. Our children are not rejecting US. It is not me as an individual. It is easy to slide into the thought "Am I that bad?" when they cannot love us. They reject motherhood. Mom's are dangerous. Love is dangerous. They were taught a form of love that is warped. They continue to see that as love and it hurts. I am working hard on remembering I am not being rejected as a person. I am rejected as a mom and it wouldn't matter who I am. The best mom you can picture in your head would be rejected. Take care of yourself, your healthy relationships and keep nurturing. We can do it together.
