Deborah Hage
I love Deborah Hage. Her books are informative about parenting but also give you some real back ground on how the trauma has effected our child. She does it in language that I can understand. I'm not big on psychobabble. She has a website full of helpful articles. Pay her a visit! I also wanted to provide a link to an article she wrote entitled Holiday Help for Your Family. I know she would never read my little blog but I wanted to send out a big Thank You to Deborah Hage for all the help she has provided me over the years.

Attachment Seminars
With summer coming I thought this might be a great time for people to attend attachment seminars. You don't have to worry about the kids missing school and it can be worked into a family vacation or a get away for you and your hubby. Here are the upcoming seminars I could find. I hope you find one to work for you. Not only do you gain valuable information at these seminars but you meet other parents like yourself. You find yourself exchanging phone numbers and emails. The support is great!

Sculpy Art therapy

Deborah Hage is the author of many books on attachment disorder. One of my favorites is Attaching in Adoption. She has a website http://www.deborahhage.com/ . If you click on articles on the left there are a whole string of interesting articles to read. One article is on sculpy art therapy. http://www.deborahhage.com/articles/sculpy.html You have your child make a figure out of clay. You tell them it can be any animal, farm, jungle, wild, tame and give no further instructions. Then the article gives guidance as to how to discuss the animal with them when it is finished. Then she gives examples of sculpys other children have made and tells what different features mean. The figures my boys made were right on and very revealing. Some I might not have wanted to know but it was revealing anyway! So get out that clay!
