The RAD secret code

I don't know if you've ever noticed but kids with RAD like to do annoying behaviors over and over. Taz likes to tap his pen or pencil on the table repeatedly. He did it so much at a swim meet today that Bear grabbed the pencil and snapped it. He is doing homework and decided to tap tap tap the pen.

"Taz stop tapping your pen."

tap tap tap tap

That is the secret code that you need to do 15 jumping jacks (read: jump on mini tramp, snuggle, whatever works for you)

I told him to let me know if he wants to do any more jumping jacks by doing the secret code. Funny. He hasn't done it again.

Soooooooo going to start using the phrase "secret code." I normally just say, "Thanks for letting me know so clearly that you need to (fill in the blank)."

"Secret Code" is so much more fun.

AHhhhh I am gonna use that too. My annoying noises start when she doesn't get what she wants.

oooh I get this one too. My daughter does something annoying and I tell her it is annoying and it is like she just gets stuck and has to compulsively repeat the behavior. For hours. Recently I have her do 10 jumping jacks to 'clear her brain' and it has been working wonders.
