Beyond Consequences

Check out http://www.beyondconsequences.com/ My friend IRL Denise suggested it to me. There is some very interesting information. My attachment therapist recommended her book Beyond Consequences, Logic and Control. I have not read it yet but hear it is an approach that works intensely on the trauma. In my opinion this in no way contradicts and is not better than approaches by Nancy Thomas, Foster Cline or any of the current leaders in this field. It is a different approach. When something is not working with your kids, try something different. I feel this is true academically and emotionally as well. Anyway, this book and her approach seem to be all the rage around here. So if any of you have read it and would like to leave a comment (Denise or any others) I'd love to hear about it.

I saw immediate results using Bryan Post's methods. They were more "mom friendly" as far as I was concerned, and I felt very comfortable using them. I also have his entier DVD series...well worth the 119 dollars. It is THE program I would recomend. DD's lying was cut by 90% first time out using his method where lying is concerned. The thing I like about Bryan Post is he and his sister were both adopted Rad kids. He knows from what he speaks!

Wow! I can't wait to read it. Our attachment therapist has ordered it and told me I can borrow his next visit.

God knows what he's doing giving these kids to people like you. I would have never made it.

I am reading this book now and like it so far. I think there is a happy medium somewhere between this approach and Nancy Thomas's approach - the trick will be finding it.

You really need to watch "The Heart of the Matter" video series. The information in there is amazing and I think it complements the style of parenting we desire as moms. Denise

Brenda,
Is your therapist getting the 4 set DVD titled "Healing the Traumatized Child?"? Much more in depth than the book. I would gladly loan you mine and trust you to send them back when you are done. I really want to keep them for my library, but will happily share. Let me know.

Denise,

Thanks for your thoughts on this. I am very excited about getting this book. Sounds like I need to see the video series too. I signed up for her support group and have received some pretty interesting info on there already. Someone recommended Posts video series as well. I'll check into it and get back to you all.

bren,

Oh. Good thing I didn't ask him yet. I misunderstood. I really need to go check out the site too. I've been at college at the group interview today. I really enjoyed myself!
