Keep your eyes on YOUR fries

Hypervigilance. Not a word I was really familiar with until RAD. One of the symptoms of RAD is that they constantly are watching everyone and everything around them. No one is to be trusted. They are not safe. So they are in constant surveillance mode. In a class room they can tell you where the kid on the back row's pencil is, what page number the other child should be on, who threw the paper wad, but they have no idea where their own paper is. At home they know where each family member is and what they are doing, but they are not doing their chores, homework or whatever they should be doing. At church they know if someone is not following the rules, not in attendance or has a cold. They are not however where they belong. They are like little lost souls unaware of themselves but overly aware of everyone else. How do we battle this? By working on the feelings of love, trust and safety. They have to learn to trust mom before they will let their guard down. Everything centers back to the relationship with mom. Its a tough load for mom to carry. That's why we need each other to talk too, pray with and get ideas from! Thanks to each of you for what you contribute to our family. Oh and Keep Your Eyes on Your Fries is our family's nice way of reminding them to mind their own business. Don't watch everyone else's fries so closely you don't notice yours are being snatched!!

We need a family slogan. I'm going to work on that.

Renee,

Is STOP FIGHTING a family slogan? That is the one I use the most!
