A New Day

When I get up in the morning I think "Well today is a chance to do this parenting thing right." Today is one of those days where I think I blew it before the coffee was made.

I often wonder what is the difference. One day I can be so patient, giving loving answers, staying calm through the bomb shells bursting around me. The next day I fall apart over a look. I'm not sure really, what it is that makes the difference.

I only know that I can ask forgiveness from my God. I can teach my child about forgiveness by asking it of him. I can model for him that we all need it. We need to be strong, and humble enough to ask for it.

So I begin again.

Not that I am happy to hear your day is bad, but it is nice to know others start their days the same as I, with the same result sometimes.
Ah well. There will be more.

I too wonder the same thing you post about today. Praise God that He forgives and teaches us by example!

PMS? Eat more chocolate? :) Just trying to throw a little levity in there. Isn't it wonderful that God is the God of second chances or seventy times seven? I have had to ask forgiveness of my children too, not today thankfully, but more times than I care to admit. And that is a huge step forward actually. my parents never apologized for anything.

We have a ritual in our family that we have to do maybe once every two or three months, you might find it interesting. When everything is going wrong and everybody is at fault and the day is going horribly wrong, we all stop what we're doing, apologize and talk about what is going wrong, and then we all (up to four of us have done this) go into our bedrooms, close the door, come out and say "Good morning" to everyone in a cheery voice, give hugs and 'start the day over.' Anyone in the family can ask to do this, to 'start the day over' and my daughter has asked three times I think, over the past few years.

Peggysue, GREAT idea! I'd like to blame PMS but it is no longer an issue for me.

Every day is a clean slate with Jesus. Isn't that so freeing? Hang in there.

I really like this! Thanks! Maybe some days we are more human and less skilled at being super woman. Not sure but your post sure is the truth!

Oh boy does this sound familiar. Happens to me regularly. I know deep down that patience gets me much further, but boy is it hard sometimes...I know what you mean. I am glad to know that I am not alone in this. Thank you. I'm not happy you had a bad day...but I am happy to know that I am not alone. :) Hope your day is better tomorrow..because we can always start over.

Hope your day today was better...it is amazing the skill with which I can manage things on one day and the next it can seem that I don't have a clue...fortunately we all have the the gift of forgiveness...
