Tumultous RAD

Tough week here. The boys have been stressed about dad. Then to top it all off both Eagle and I have birthdays tomorrow. That is just TOO MUCH for RAD. Eagle and I are going to go for pedis in the afternoon. I have class tomorrow evening. Hubby is still hobbling around pretty much so Eagle and I are going to go out for Sushi before class at a place that is FABULOUS! We gave Eagle $100 cash for her birthday gift early. It was stolen. There were only 2 children home during the time it could have happened. I don't need to name names. We have searched high and low and cannot find the money. Some people are under house arrest so that they cannot spend it. There is oh so much more that I cannot share. I think I can.. I think I can... I think I can....

I know you can, I know you can! You are an awesome mom and an inspiration. Your dedication and persistence gives your RADishes a chance at a different life. Don't forget that.

Breathe in.

Breathe out.

Stick your butt out far

and shake it all about.

(I have no idea where that all came from, but I knew if I sounded like a Hallmark card, you would throw a shoe at me)

(((hugs!))) I have a very RADalicious child right now myself who is testing my patience every second of every day.

I think I'm going to try Christine's suggestion. I love it! Actually we actually tried something kind of like that the other night and before you know it, the whole family was in on the drill and we had some serious booty dancing going on...along with lots of laughter and smiles.

Life's Mom here (it won't publish again in my name!)

We've got some RAD behavior going on here too (I think). "Life" goes to a day camp a couple of days a week. Since she has no friends, it is good for her to go somewhere with other kids to play a bit - plus I get a break. :) Anyway, this morning her day camp went to a jump house. I got a call from the freightened director saying that Life had passed out and was unconscious for over a minute. She rushed Life to our family doctor and I met her there. All of her vitals were normal, so the doctor ordered a round of blood tests and an EKG. After a couple of hours at the hospital, we are home now. "Life" has made a rapid recovery and would like to go swimming now. Her teacher told me that she complained quite a bit that it was hot in the jump house and she wanted to leave. I think the teacher was snookered by her wonderful acting, but I can't be sure! Everything in me thinks she is faking, but I didn't see her and it would be horrible if something were really wrong. But she did ask if there would be gifts for her since she was sick and wondered if we could stop to eat out on the way home from the hospital - you know since she is sick and all. In our house sick kids spend the day resting (not swimming!) :)

Brenda - hang in there. I hope you can enjoy your birthday in spite of all the trouble! You deserve a great day!

Thanks ladies. You are such encouragement. Thanks for the birthday wishes as well. I did have a very nice day! No confessions yet though.

Life's Mom here - We we got a confession last night. As I thought, she faked the whole fainting episode. The director, who has been in education for over 25 years was shocked at her acting ability. So, what is the logical consequence for getting an unnecessary EKG??? Apologies to all of the adults involved have already taken place.

Brenda, I hope you find the money soon and also get a confession. Glad you had a great birthday.

Sorry to hear about the theft. We have had that too, on a smaller scale. Our RADish has taken money from the other, older kids birthday cards. It usually takes a long time to get a confession, although that time has gotten shorter, but now I am running out of consequence ideas too. What should the consequence be for locking me out of the house when I take the dog out because she's mad at me? For throwing sand at other kids on a camping trip? For doing the exact opposite of what I told her to do for her own safety? (don't go in the front yard near the street. . .)
Ideas for consequences would be lovely . . . as far as a fake EKG hmmm . . how old is she? Is there any volunteer work she can do somewhere with people who are really ill? Or would that just teach her how to mimic the symptoms better next time?
