Life is a Zoo--We are Home

My husband took a vacation day and we went to the Omaha Henry Doorly Zoo today. It was just my husband, myself and our three sons. The girls were both working. There were no major catastrophes for which I am thankful. RAD is so much more obvious when we are out in public though. I think our son's anxiety level goes through the roof. The constant chatter in the too loud voice for hours is a bit much. Once when he was yelling in my face, not in anger, just taking very loudly about absolutely nothing, I whacked the back of my hand on his chest. Mind you he is 5'7" and I am 5'4". We were inches apart. It was not done in anger. I just shushed him and flung my hand. I hope I explained that in a way you can see it. He starts yelling "YOU DON'T HAVE TO HIT ME MOM. GOOD GRIEF. WHY'D YOU HIT ME?" I was mortified as he hoped and moved away. He slept the whole way home and is doing chores. There was only one short instance of he and Taz getting physical and we mostly kept them apart after that. So all in all it went well. If you ever have the chance to visit this zoo, take it. It is one of the finest in the US and I have been to many of the big ones. Here is a link.http://henrydoorlyzoo.com/ I did get a couple of photos that don't show the boys faces I will download and post tomorrow. I don't like to show them too often for two reasons 1) birth family is around 2) strangers have access to this blog.

glad it went well, brenda. jacksons anxiety level can get in the way too(like before camp UGH) its hard to set situations up for them in a way that they feel ok.

Do you think he will act out when he gets home too? My boys seem to act out any time there is a change in the routine. I hope not for your sake but I could see it happening. If the camp has not called at all that is good at least.
