AH HA!
My husband took a vacation day. Our 19 year old daughter took a half day off. My wise husband observed my burned out attitude and said "You need an afternoon off. Why don't you and Dancer take off?" So Dancer and I ran around all afternoon ending it with manicures. I cannot tell you how different I feel. I can always tell when that overwhelmed feeling starts over taking me I am not taking the time alone I need. Every once in awhile it catches me off guard and I wonder what is up. Why? I don't know, but I let it happen. I spent some quality time with our daughter who leaves for college in less than a month. My nails are perty! So once again "Take care of yourself." is my song and dance next verse same as the first! It is hard in the summer to find the time alone but oh so necessary. Not a luxury, not self indulgent but necessary.

You are so very right! There is this idea out there that is some how selfish to take time out for ourselves! When, in fact, it is necessary for us to be what are children need us to be!
Thanks for responding to my blog! I have now found you and look forward to reading more....
Queen Mommy,
I look forward to getting to know you. I am still feeling so much better. I am going to have to do better at taking some time alone over the next month. Thanks for stopping by!
Brenda - so much of your advice is applicable to all of us...thank you! Guess that's why I keep popping in. I'm headed out to work out in about an hour! :-)

Ali,
I followed a link at Christine's blog http://www.welcometomybrain.net/
to yours. She has some great stuff on there and a fun attitude about parenting. If I go out alone for food I go to the coffee shop for a frappachino or a latte! Having 4 teens we eat a TON of pizza.
